"First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to Amber, the office manager, who has been a breath of fresh air at this disappointing State Farm office. She was the only person at this location who provided assistance and demonstrated professionalism during my ordeal. I joined State Farm in February and was assigned Mike Bean as my default agent. Two weeks after joining, my auto policy entered underwriting due to my wife not being licensed, which, for some reason, was an issue. Between then and April 23rd, I repeatedly inquired about the status of my policy. Each time, Mike Bean assured me that I was covered and underwriting just takes time. I accepted this, as long as I was covered. However, on April 24th, I experienced a minor car accident. I called Mike Bean's office as soon as it opened at 8:30am to report the incident. After multiple unanswered calls, I finally reached him at 8:38am. I explained the situation and informed him that the car was not drivable and I needed a rental immediately. Mike Bean said he would process the claim, but I decided to call claims myself, given his track record of reliability. I tried to get ahold of claims for around 2 hours but had no luck. I decided to wait another 4 hours to see if they would call me like Mike Bean said. Nothing. At around 3pm I called Mike Bean’s office to see if there were any updates on the claim. Of course, there wasn’t. He instructed me to wait for their call, stating that if I continued to call claims, they would deliberately take longer to process my claim. He claimed my persistence would anger the "grown adults" handling my case. He also mentioned that my repeated calls to his office (which only occurred in the morning when they wouldn't answer so I could file a claim) were "irritating." I was in complete disbelief, having never encountered such behavior before by any kind of agent. I couldn't fathom how Mike Bean could treat someone who had just experienced an accident and was clearly distressed in such a manner. His attitude left me extremely upset. He literally said, "This is the 5th time I'm going to explain this to you since you're not understanding for some reason," & "Is there anything else I can help you with?" He was well aware of my frustration and the lack of information regarding my claim. At that point, I DID NOT want to speak to him again and responded with "no." He then said, "Have a great day," and hung up. What kind of agent treats their client with such disrespect and disdain? It is utterly appalling and completely unprofessional. Extremely frustrated, I called the claims department myself AGAIN and finally got through after a 30-minute wait. To my dismay, the representative informed me that my policy had been canceled since March 11th, contrary to what Mike Bean had assured me. Panicking, I called Mike Bean's office again and fortunately, Amber answered. She listened to my concerns and immediately took action to resolve the issue. Amber ensured that my claim went through and expedited my policy, allowing claims to verify my coverage. Thanks to Amber, I received my rental, and my car is now being repaired. I spoke to another agent in the area who was appalled by Mike Bean's conduct, and I plan to report him to State Farm and the Texas Department of Insurance. Mike Bean's unprofessionalism and lack of compassion are inexcusable. His behavior has made me consider switching insurance providers. I implore everyone to avoid using Mike Bean as an agent. I am grateful to Amber for her diligence and assistance in resolving this situation."
